DVORAK’S NEW WORLD SYMPHONY

April 14 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Brilliant violinist Julian Rachlin is both conductor and performer. He is joined by partner Sarah McElravy for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, a poetic conversation between violin and viola. Rachlin conducts one of the most popular symphonies of all time, Dvorak’s great Symphony No. 9. Written and premiered in the “New World,” the work was influenced by Afro-American spirituals and folk music, for a distinctly American sound. Berlioz’s dashing Roman Carnival Overture rounds out the program.

Bonus! For every Masterworks concert, Michael Francis has personally chosen a surprise “mystery piece” to enhance your experience. What will it be this weekend?

PRE-CONCERT CONVERSATIONS: Get the real story behind the composers and their music, straight from the conductor and guest soloists. Starts one hour before each Masterworks concert in the theater. Included free with each concert ticket.
