Handbuilt Pottery for Beginners with Jon Green

Join us for a fun and energetic class with Morean Artist in Residence Jon Green. In this class you will learn the basics of handbuilding with clay from start to finish. The class will focus on creating and designing your own pottery. Each week Jon will demonstrate creating pottery with an emphasis on both decorative and utilitarian elements. Course demonstrations will include cups with or without handles, bowl, vases, butter boxes, and coffee pour overs. More advanced projects may include pitchers, jars, and cream and sugar sets. Students will gain the basic understanding of how to work in a ceramic studio. All glazes and firings are included in the class price. All levels welcome!
Demonstrations start at 10am. Open work time for the early birds starts at 9:00am.

Phoenix – Made by Highwater Clays. Fires to a light tan in color. Great clay for beginners. Smooth enough to throw on the potter’s wheel, but strong enough to withstandst hand-building techniques. Can be fired from Cone 6 to Cone 10. Cost is $23.54 after tax.
Speckled Brownstone – Made by Highwater Clays. Fires to a light brown in color with small black specs. Great for throwing on the potter’s wheel. Can be fired to Cone 6. Cost is $23.54 after tax.
